Snapchat is improving its lens feature today with a new hands-free update.
To quickly recap, Snapchat Lenses are a series of masks one can apply either on your face or the surrounding environment.
Snap has added new lenses to the app which are triggered by voice, as opposed to simply using facial gestures or by tapping the screen. With these voice-activated lenses, all you need to do is to say words like “Hi”, “Wow” or and they will animate just as the gesture-based ones do. You can’t customise the voice actions as Snapchat has set them to pre-configured commands.
Even as Snap struggles, its story format and lenses remain influential in the tech industry as titans like Facebook, Google and Samsung attempt to clone the feature for their own individual projects. That said, Snap still wants as many people using its app as possible. It has recently launched a redesign of its iOS app and is working on a bet for its Android app to assuage user concerns.
