Augmented reality is undoubtedly the technology of the future, much more than Virtual Reality, mainly due to its ability to seamlessly mix the real with the virtual and fun with work. Microsoft is investing heavily in the technology with Hololens and see it as one of the futures of the PC.

Imagine a world however where everyone wore a Hololens-like device all the time, and your world is filled with digital signage and saturated with media which constantly intrudes in your field of vision, a world where you can choose what your streets look like, but where pop ups ads actually pop up in front of you in the street.

This is the world imagined by Keiichi Matsuda who created the video above as a project. While many would say there is no need for this world to be so garish, but looking at the typical web page, it is also clear that when services are given away “for free” your attention is one way people end up paying.

Do our readers think Augmented Reality will inevitably end up as such a nightmare-scape? Let us know below.
