HP is expected to announce a Windows 10 Mobile beast at MWC in Barcelona sometime soon. The company’s Elite X3 is an upcoming Windows 10 Mobile with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 820 processor, 4GB of RAM, a 5.96-inch OLED display and a 4150 mAh battery. Here are some of the new pictures of the Elite X3:
As we previously reported, the Elite X3 will power a laptop (aka the HP Mobile Extender) via Continuum (via Wi-Fi or USB-C). The HP Mobile Extender will apparently have a 12.5-inch display. Here’s the updated specsheet for the Elite X3:
- 5.96-inch OLED display (2560×1440) and 490ppi
- Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 Quad-Core SoC
- 4150mAh battery
- 4 GB RAM
- 32GB storage or 64GB storage, microSD expansion up to 200 GB
- Dual SIM
- USB 3.0 Type-C (USB-C)
- Qi wireless charging
- Iris Scanner (Windows Hello)
- Fingerprint reader
- Continuum support
- 16-megapixel camera on the back
- 8-megapixel front camera
- Windows 10 Mobile
- IP67 dust and water resistance
- STD810 military MIL-rating (for 1-foot drop protection
- 7.8 mm thick and weighs only 190 grams
Apparently, the fingerprint sensor on the prototype device which HP is showing off at MWC is missing. However, it should be coming soon:
“Case in point: the fingerprint sensor was missing. HP Inc says that this, once actually implemented, will form one-half of the Elite x3’s dual factor authentication capabilities, the other being a front-facing iris scanner, which was, at least, present and correct.”
The HP Elite X3 is, indeed, looking pretty good. We will have more on the Elite X3 from MWC 2016 sometime this week, so stay tuned.
