Microsoft has updated an old keyboard case patent the company has first filed some years ago. Their latest patent from December 2015 is a continuation of a 2012 patent, which itself is a continuation of a 2009 patent.

The patent described a protective case for a smartphone which includes a keyboard and mousepad, and which controls the smartphone either via physical contacts and also via Bluetooth.

The patent itself does not contain anything terribly interesting or revelatory but it is interesting to see that Microsoft has continued to maintain it over all these years. Maybe it is a hint of Microsoft’s vision of their next very professional and productive Windows 10 Phone?
