Two months back, Mozilla announced details about their next major update for Firefox web browser named Firefox Quantum. The Firefox Quantum browser is based on a next-generation engine that is built for modern multi-CPU and GPU based PCs. This new Firefox Quantum browser is now available for download.

Quantum is about 2X faster than Firefox was a year ago. It also performs better when you compare it with Google Chrome. Despite Firefox Quantum often being faster than Chrome, it consumes roughly 30% less RAM than Google Chrome. Check out the video below.

In addition to the performance improvements, Mozilla is also introducing refined and rebuilt UI for Firefox. The new UI is optimized for High DPI and touchscreen displays. If you use Quantum on a Windows PC with a touch display, the menus change size based on whether you click with a mouse or touch with a finger. The new Library provides quick access to your saved stuff: bookmarks, Pocket, history, downloads, tabs, and screenshots. Firefox Quantum also has native integration with Pocket, the read-it-later app that Mozilla acquired.

Firefox Quantum can be downloaded here.
