An analysis of the latest new APIs in Windows 10 Redstone has revealed new native controls in the OS which should make it easier for developers to support pen-based input in their apps.

The OS includes new APIs for a RadialController which is likely similar to the app-specific one in the OneNote app, except this version would be available to any developer who wants to implement it.

Similarly the OS now offers an Ink Toolbar control which should make it easier for developers to support annotations.

Pens have of course long been a feature of Microsoft’s Surface range, though we hope Microsoft is also looking at supporting this accessory on Windows 10 Mobile also.
