Instagram is today rolling out a new update to its live streaming feature. The company is testing the ability to co-stream with a small group of users, and the feature will be rolled out to all users in the coming months. Co-stream, as the name implies, enables users to start a stream with another user.

Once you start streaming on Instagram, you can add your other friends to the stream and the stream will now start showing both you and your friend. Everything else still remains the same, with comments and likes/hearts being merged together in one section.

The feature is very much similar to the co-stream feature found on Microsoft’s game-streaming service Mixer, but that’s obviously used for a totally different purpose. Mixer lets up to 4 users co-stream, but Instagram limits that to only 2 people which should be more than enough for mobile devices.
