Google has finally started rolling out a welcome feature to their Google Home speaker that will turn your $129 smart speaker into the equivalent of a $20 intercom.

If you have Google Assistant on your phone, you can now shout out a message to all your Google Home speakers, allowing families to get their kids out of bed or remind granny to pick up the phone.

For certain everyday things like waking up, dinnertime or settling down for bed, the Assistant can also send a playful message on your behalf. Just say “Ok Google, broadcast it’s dinner time” and a dinner bell will ring on all your Google Homes.

The feature works even if you are away from home on your phone, and is activated by saying  “OK Google, broadcast” followed by your announcement.

It is currently rolling out as an update to US, Australia, Canada, and the UK.
