Microsoft hopes that 3rd party OEMs will fill the gaps their retrenchment from the smartphone market has left, and it appears Spanish company Funker is willing to give it a good go.

The company has already released a number of Windows Phones from Microsoft’s Windows Reference Design range, and today they announced that they will be bringing another device to the market, the Funker W6 Pro 2.

The Continuum-capable handset is the same reference design we have seen in other guises, such as the Coship Moly PCPhone and features a 6-inch 1080P display with Gorilla Glass, the Snapdragon 617, 3GB of RAM, a 3900 mAh battery and 32 GB of internal storage and USB-type C connector.

It is also a 4G handset with a 13 megapixel rear and 5 megapixel front-facing camera with dimensions of  160 x 82.3 x 7.9mm and 176 g in weight.

It is of course good to see this handset become available more widely, but we also hope some more original designs will also hit the market at some point.

We do not yet know the pricing and availability, but we assume it would be in the 300-400 Euro range.
