Xbox marketing lead Albert Penello has announced that he is leaving Microsoft after being with the company for 18 years.

“Well today is a crazy day. I’ve made the decision after 18 years to leave Microsoft,” he said on Twitter. “To say it’s been a ‘once in a lifetime’ experience is an understatement. The team at #Xbox has meant so much to me and I’ll be cheering them on – there is so much great stuff still to come.”

He continued by thanking the Xbox community for all of the feedback and support over the years. “I want to say thank you to all the fans and followers for the support and encouragement and great feedback over the years,” said Penello. “It’s been awesome meeting and talking with so many of you. The FANS are the energy that keeps the team going so keep it up!!”

Penello worked for the team at Xbox and managed the launches of the Kinect for Xbox 360, Xbox 360 S, and Xbox One X. Before being made Senior Director of Xbox Console Marketing in 2017, he served as the Senior Director of Product Planning.

Penello did not state the reason for leaving the company, nor did he reveal what he will move on to next.
