In case you thought you knew everything about Windows 7, Microsoft still has one or two aces up their sleeves, and this one is sure to help out a lot of Windows Mobile users also.

Windows 7, due on October 22, will feature GPU-assisted transcoding of video dragged and dropped onto Mobile devices in its Device Stage.  This means video will be transcoded to mobile formats up to 5 times faster, with only minimal CPU load.

Microsoft revealed this feature at Computex, and demonstrated it on an Nvidia Ion based desktop transferring a 1080p movie to a Sony Walkman, but there is no reason this feature wont work just as well on our Windows Mobile phones.
