WhatsApp is currently testing new text formatting tools in its beta version for Android. These tools are designed to make it easier to format text in chats, which can improve readability and organization.

The new tools include:

  • Code blocks: Code blocks make sharing and reading code snippets in chats easier. To create a code block, simply enclose your code with backticks (`)
  • Quote blocks: Quote blocks allow you to reply to a specific part of a previous message. Add a “>” symbol before the text you want to quote to create a quote block.
  • Lists: Lists make creating bulleted or numbered lists in your chats easy. To create a list, start your text with an asterisk (*), hyphen (-), or number.

These new tools are only available to beta testers but are expected to be rolled out to all users in the coming days.

I would no longer require a note-making application to create lists. Additionally, incorporating code blocks, quote blocks, and lists into chat messages can greatly enhance readability and organization. These simple yet effective features can significantly improve the flow of communication and make chat messages much easier to read.
