Twitter has updated their mobile apps to allow users to retweet tweets not just with text comments, but also images, gifs and videos.

Apparently Twitter has been carefully considering the UI, so as to make it possible to discern the original and subsequent tweets, and settled on the original tweet being reduced size, as can be seen in the screenshot below:

“We found it was challenging for people to quickly understand all the content in a Retweet with media. This was due to the layout; two large tweets stacked on top of each other,” a spokesperson said.

The addition of the feature simply means all the usual tweet writing tools, including gif and video upload, is now available when retweeting.

The feature is already available on iOS and Android and should come to the desktop in due course.
