If you’re still reading this and haven’t already disappeared to redeem that sweet membership, here’s some terms and conditions. The Microsoft site says the following:

Joining Xbox Game Pass Ultimate will upgrade your remaining Xbox Live Gold or Xbox Game Pass for Console or Xbox Game Pass for PC time into Xbox Game Pass Ultimate for the same amount of time, up to 36 months. All conversions are final.

That means that, if you think Game Pass isn’t for you, you won’t be able to turn it back into just an Xbox Live Gold membership. Although Game Pass Ultimate contains Xbox Live Gold membership, so you’d really just be missing out anyway.
