The Evil Dead is getting a new video game adaptation, and we know it won’t be for VR.

Announced back in August on Bloody Disgusting, actor Bruce Campbell, the actor of series protagonist Ash Williams, the game was first described as an “immersive dealio”.

We know that Campbell will be returning in the role of Williams, just as he did for previous games set in the universe.

“I’ll be Ash for that,” Campbell told BD. “I wouldn’t want someone else’s voice hamming it up.”

Campbell’s description of the title being an “immersive dealio” led many to believe that the title was a VR-based adventure. However, after months of speculation, the situation has been cleared up: the new Evil Dead game will not be a VR title.

Taking to Twitter, Campbell described the situation:

“Hey, groovy gamers, this is a swell time to clarify some incorrect info that might be out there (including from me!): the upcoming Evil Dead video game is being developed for consoles and PC, not VR. Sorry for any confusion. Game on!”

He also told us that his boomstick is too big for VR, something I don’t believe is true.

The Evil Dead series hasn’t seen a video game adaptation since 2005’s Evil Dead: Regeneration. Whether this new title will be set during the original movies or during the amazing Ash vs Evil Dead TV show, we don’t know. To be honest, we don’t know anything, and I’m not just talking about the Evil Dead.
