WhatsApp is rolling out a streamlined voice messaging experience in its latest Android beta update, version 2.25.15.19. The new feature allows users to record voice messages with a single tap on the microphone icon. This eliminates the need to hold it down or swipe up to lock the recording. Once tapped, the recording begins and remains active until the user manually ends it.

This change applies across all messaging formats on the platform, including individual chats, group conversations, and broadcast channels. The overall aim of the update is to make sending voice messages easier for users. This will further make the feature more accessible and consistent regardless of where it’s used within the app.

Currently, WhatsApp’s voice message update is limited to select beta testers who have installed the latest version from the Google Play Store. A broader release is expected in the coming weeks as WhatsApp gathers feedback and makes final adjustments.

The simplified recording mechanism is part of WhatsApp’s ongoing efforts to refine user interaction and maintain parity between its various communication tools. By reducing the steps needed to send a voice message, the update supports faster, more convenient communication for users who rely on audio over text.
