Samsung Ativ Book 9 1

Recently, several users and a Microsoft MVP reported that Samsung is disabling Windows Updates on its computers. The company claims to deliver all the Windows Updates such as driver and its stock software updates through its own software updating tool. However, disabling Windows Update is a security risk as Microsoft delivers important security updates via Windows Update.

Samsung hasn’t yet made an official statement about this issue yet. Now, Samsung Ireland made a statement about this issue claiming that the reports aren’t true and the company isn’t blocking operating system updates on its computers.

Here’s the official statement from Samsung Ireland:

It is not true that we are blocking a Windows 8.1 operating system update on our computers. As part of our commitment to consumer satisfaction, we are providing our users with the option to choose if and when they want to update the Windows software on their products. We take product security very seriously and we encourage any Samsung customer with product questions or concerns to contact us directly on lo-call 0818 717 100.

We aren’t quite sure if the company is indeed blocking Windows Update or not. Until then, we will just have to wait and see what happens next.
