A couple of weeks back, Samsung launched its first phone with the infinity-O display. The company didn’t reveal the prices at the launch which happened in China.
Today, Chinese biggest e-commerce website JD listed the phone for pre-order which revealed the prices as well as the availability of the device. The price of Galaxy A8s is set at CNY 2,999 (roughly $430) for the 6GB RAM/ 128GB storage variant while the price of the 8GB RAM variant is yet to be revealed. The Galaxy A8 comes with Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 SoC and has 6 or 8GB of RAM while the storage is 128GB. The internal storage can be expanded with a microSD card of up to 512GB. The screen is a 6.4-inch with a resolution of 1080 x 2340 pixels and a tall 19.5:9 aspect ratio. On the top corner of the screen is a 6.7mm hole that houses the front camera. Samsung has added a triple camera setup on the back which consists of a 24 MP main sensor with f/1.7 aperture and a secondary 10 MP telephoto lens with a f/2.4 aperture. The third one is used for depth sensing and it’s 5 MP with f/2.2 aperture. The fingerprint reader sits just beside the cameras. The front-facing camera, on the other hand, is 24 MP shooter with f/2.0 aperture. The phone comes with a decent 3,400 mAh battery and supports fast charging. Unfortunately, Samsung Galaxy A8 still comes with Android 8.1 with Samsung’s Experience UI on the top.
The device is available in China right now and comes in Blue, Gray, and Green. The device will go on sale starting December 31. Unfortunately, there is still no word on the global availability of the device.
