Sony’s PlayStation Classic console is a cool little paperweight, but it isn’t a great machine for emulating original PlayStation games. With the prospect of modding on the horizon, we may get to play games we actually want to play on the device in the future, but for now, we’re stuck with 20 preloaded games – some of which we don’t even care for.

A new data mine of the system has revealed 36 games that could have come to the system. All of these are beloved games on the PlayStation and many of them deserve a place on the list.

Look at the list of games below:

  • Chocobo’s Mysterious Dungeon
  • Colin McRae Rally
  • Crash Bandicoot
  • Crash 2
  • Toy Story 2
  • Driver
  • Ehrgeiz
  • Fighting Force
  • Gran Turismo
  • GTA 2
  • Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone
  • Kagero
  • Klonoa
  • Kula World
  • Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver
  • Medal of Honor
  • MediEvil
  • Mega Man Legends
  • Mr. Driller G
  • Paca Paca Passion
  • PaRappa the Rapper
  • Parasite Eve
  • RayStorm
  • Ridge Racer
  • Silent Hill
  • Spec Ops: Stealth Patrol
  • Street Fighter Alpha 3
  • Street Fighter EX Plus Alpha
  • Suikoden
  • Tomb Raider
  • Tomb Raider 2
  • Tomba
  • Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 2
  • Vagrant Story
  • Wild Arms 2
  • Xevious 3D/G+

It’s obvious that some games on this list wouldn’t have been possible on the system due to rights issues. The licensed music in Tony Hawk Pro Skater 2 and the film licenses for Toy Story 2 and Harry Potter probably wouldn’t have been worked out in time for such a short release, but we can dream.

Other games on the list should definitely have been included. Silent Hill, Street Fighter Alpha 3, Vagrant Story, Legacy of Kain – all of these are much-beloved classics. MediEvil would have been great too, but with a remake on the horizon, there’s a reason for not including it.

Hopefully, we’ll see an improved PlayStation Classic 2 in the future that manages to include some of these classic. For now, we’ll have to rely on the community to fix things for us – as per usual.
