Microsoft is already working on making Outlook better but it looks like Outlook might get some great features soon. A recent patent filing has confirmed some of the new features that Microsoft is working on for Outlook. Now, patents don’t always translate into products but they do give hope that Outlook might get better AI features soon.

According to the patent, Microsoft is planning to add more AI enabled features into the Outlook calendar. One of these features will scan through the appointments and the events to suggest a suitable time and date to schedule a new appointment. This feature will work in conjunction with the calendar’s ability to spot possible conflicts.

Methods and systems for generating proposed calendar events within an electronic calendar. A system includes an electronic processor configured to access a plurality of records associated with a user and to generate and output a user’s electronic calendar, the electronic calendar including a representation of at least one of the plurality of calendar events , The electronic processor is also configured to determine a proposed calendar event for the user and to generate and output a representation of the proposed calendar event within the electronic calendar. The electronic processor is also configured.

Another feature that Microsoft is working on will use the basic continuity idea and will suggest things to do based on calendar events. For example, if the calendar has a flight scheduled, it will suggest you to book transportation at the destination or book hotels, etc. Similarly, if the calendar notices that you have added an event a couple of times on the same date, it will suggest you to add the same event in the future. For instance, if you have a monthly conference scheduled on a particular day, the calendar will suggest you to add events for the future dates.

The events displayed in the timeline may include future events and historical events. The historical events may also be linked and displayed with additional data, such as photographs taken at the time of such historical events, documents made at the time of such historical events, people who have met for such historical events. and the same.

As we noted earlier that these patents don’t exactly mean that we will get to see the service but we do hope that Microsoft brings these features to Outlook Calendar in the future.
