- OpenAI’s “Scheduled Tasks” lets users automate reminders and recurring actions.
- It’s supported platforms like Web, iOS, Android, and macOS.
- Tasks run offline, send notifications, and are limited to 10 active tasks at a time.
OpenAI has just recently launched a new feature for ChatGPT, and that’s the GPT-4o model with scheduled tasks.
The Microsoft-backed company introduced “Tasks,” a beta feature in ChatGPT that’s now available to Plus, Team, and Pro subscribers. If you have it on, you can schedule reminders and perform recurring actions like virtual assistants.
“Whether it’s one-time reminders or recurring actions, tell ChatGPT what you need and when, and it will automatically take care of it,” OpenAI describes the feature.
To take this feature out for a spin, you can see tasks through the “GPT-4o with scheduled tasks” on the model picker and manage them via chat or a new Tasks section. Then, ChatGPT will send notifications once it’s completed, with a limit of 10 active tasks at once.
OpenAI also promises that it’ll launch the feature to everyone on ChatGPT, even if you’re on a free tier.
The AI company also mentioned on the feature’s support page that the feature is available on ChatGPT Web, iOS, Android, and macOS, with Windows support arriving later in the first quarter of 2025. Notifications can also be delivered via push or email and tasks operate even when you’re offline.
Last year, OpenAI made a lot of announcements during its holiday-themed “ship-mas” streaming event.
The company launched its hotly-anticipated text-to-video model, Sora, but that wasn’t without strong competition from Google’s Veo 2. And, it also launched its latest reasoning-excelling model, the o3, after a successful period with the o1 model.
