Techcrunch went sniffing around Nokia’s Remote Device Access service seeing if any other devices besides the Nokia Lumia 910 would show up.
They seems to have managed to hit the jackpot, with the Nokia Lumia 1001 showing up on their search of nearby Bluetooth devices.
There are some reasons to believe the device is real – a Nokia Lumia 1000 with Windows Phone 8 would be the natural progression from the Nokia Lumia 900 flagship, and Nokia may very well be trying to leak upcoming devices on purpose to boost their flagging share price, just like RIM recently did with their 2013 roadmap.
On the other hand, much like on WPBench, with attention being focussed on Nokia’s RDA service, the mischievous would have had a field day changing the Bluetooth names of Symbian handsets on the service to non-existent Windows Phones.
We are in fact inclined to believe the later, finding the appearance of the Nokia Lumia 1001 a bit too convenient.
