The recent tweet by a Microsoft program manager suggested that that Sets tabs feature may become a thing of the past. Now in an official statement Microsoft has confirmed that Sets hasn’t actually been cancelled, but has merely been punted into the long grass.
Zac Bowden from the WC managed to get a statement from Microsoft which stated:
“We’ve taken Sets offline from WIP (Windows Insider Program) to continue to evaluate long term while also needing to prioritize other work tied to Microsoft Edge.”
Microsoft has provided another statement regarding Windows 10 Sets: “We’ve taken Sets offline from WIP to continue to evaluate long term while also needing to prioritize other work tied to Microsoft Edge.”
So Microsoft is prioritizing work on Edge over Sets at the moment.

Whilst initially highly praised, users complained that with each update, Tabs became increasingly complicated. Eventually, it started functioning very poorly, and had to be removed from the market all together.
Hopefully we’ll see a simplified, more user-friendly version in the near future; but it seems that Microsoft are focusing on improvements and possibly bug fixes for their Edge browser for now.
