Sticky Notes is quietly one of Microsoft’s more popular products with office users around the world and Microsoft is being somewhat theatrical about unveiling the next version of the app.
Recently we heard that version 3.0 of the app will soon come to Windows 10 Insiders on Skip Ahead (currently 19H1 update).
Today one of the engineers of the app, Reza Jooyandeh, Engineering Manager for Microsoft Sticky Notes Windows, posted a preview of the application with a dark theme, saying:
Part 1. Before all the beautiful sunshine arrived, we channeled our dark energy into a dark themed note. Introducing: Charcoal Notes#WindowsInsiders Sticky Note v3.0 coming soon to #SkipAhead pic.twitter.com/lSVHbAI5Zr

No further details about what’s in the update or when we can expect it, but its likely to be pretty soon going off this tweet.
Update: Reza has now also revealed another new feature – a new formatting bar on the notes:

Update 2: Microsoft has also revealed new accessibility features for the coming app, including support for Narrator, High Contrast mode and more.
Part 4: Drastic improvements on being more inclusive #a11y.

Update 3: Reza has now also revealed that the app will get a “home” app where sticky notes can be hidden or dismissed to, but where they can still be searched for.
Part 5: If you have a lot of notes, your desktop can get a bit crowded! Introducing a home for all your notes: Stick them to your desktop, or tuck them away and find them again easily with search.#WindowsInsiders Sticky Notes 3.0 coming soon to Skip Ahead #Windows pic.twitter.com/iuAr5zwS8X

We have also recently heard that Sticky Notes will get a mobile app which will sync your desktop notes, and I suspect the UI for the sticky notes collection will also look similar to the left screenshot.
