Just today, Microsoft announced that its Defender app is getting two new features, just in time for the annual Microsoft Surface event.

The Redmond-based tech giant released two new features called credit monitoring and data privacy.

Rolling out for US users on October 2, credit monitoring works by constantly monitoring your credit report for any changes, such as new credit accounts being opened, changes to your address, or hard inquiries. If the service detects any suspicious activity, it will send you an alert so that you can take action immediately.

Not just that, but the credit monitoring feature also has a number of other benefits, like identity theft insurance for up to $1 million and dark web scanning.

“Together with the existing dark web scanning functionalities in identity theft monitoring, the new credit monitoring functionality helps you and your family stay safer by knowing what data is out there and alerting you if anyone attempts to maliciously use this information for financial gain,” says Microsoft in the announcement.

On the other hand, privacy protection, like when you use public Wi-Fi, makes your online stuff super secure especially with a VPN with 10GB limit. It encrypts your data so that nobody can snoop on it, keeping things like your passwords, credit card info, and personal emails safe.

Microsoft Defender is available on the Microsoft Store.
