Microsoft celebrate Gears of War nostalgia with new free Mad World-themed Windows 10 wallpaper pack

With Gears of War 5 nearing, Microsoft has released a new pack of free wallpapers with a Gears of War theme to remind us how groundbreaking the original game (and its marketing) was.

Simply titled Gears of War – Mad World, the description of the high-quality wallpaper selection reads as follows:

The key frames from the landmark “Mad World” television ad are here together for the first time. With its emotional storytelling, in-engine graphics, and an unforgettable score, “Mad World” changed video game marketing upon its release in 2006. This 20-image set for Windows 10 is free.

After downloading the collection, go to Start > Settings > Personalization > Themes and click on the theme you prefer.

To apply and change to the most appropriate colour, based on the current wallpaper, go to Customize > Colors > Automatically select a primary colour from the background.
