Microsoft finally revealed the dates of its hotly-anticipated Build 2025 annual conference.

This year, the event is taking place in Seattle, Washington, between May 19 and 22, 2025. You can also register now via Microsoft’s website. Last year, there were a lot of AI-centric announcements, so expect to see more of that in Microsoft Build 2025 this season.

In 2024, the Redmond tech giant announced GitHub Copilot extensions, which lets you as developers customize your coding experience with services like Azure, Docker, and Sentry. Other than that, GitHub Copilot for Azure also opened up, which lets you build, deploy, and troubleshoot applications using natural language commands.

There were a lot of hardware and devices that arrived last year, too. Both Surface Pro 11 and Surface Laptop 7 were launched, both powered by the Snapdragon X Elite processor.

And only recently Microsoft launched these devices with Intel chips, which will be available starting February 18, 2025. These devices to Intel’s Lunar Lake processors, up to Intel Core Ultra 7, 32GB of RAM, and 1TB of storage.

In AI, Microsoft brought OpenAI’s GPT-4o flagship model to the Azure OpenAI Service API. It also launched Azure AI Studio and a lot of AI smarts for Edge, like a real-time video translation feature that’s capable of dubbing videos on platforms like YouTube, LinkedIn, Reuters, and Coursera.

So what now for 2025? Sources over at Windows Central said that Microsoft will extend its Copilot+ PCs across the Surface portfolio, including new versions of the Surface Pro, Surface Laptop, and Surface Laptop Studio.

Besides, a new 11-inch Surface Laptop, potentially replacing the Surface Laptop Go, is also in the works, as well as a refreshed Surface Laptop Studio and a new Surface Dock.
