At Today’s event Microsoft has shown a tablet called the Surface.

The device is 9.3 mm thick and has a magnesium case.  It has a full USB2 size port and seems to have a fan hole, suggesting a Windows 8 OS instead of Windows RT. It has a 10.6 inch screen and 675 g. It has a gorilla glass screen.

It also has a built-in kick stand.

It has a 3mm cover which is also a full multi-touch keyboard.

The above 9.3 mm device is Windows RT (Nvidia ARM). It comes in 32 and 64 GB versions, priced competitively with other ARM tablets. The screen is Cleartype HD (possible 1366×768)

Microsoft has also confirmed a 14mm, 2 pound device with Windows 8 Pro Core i5 Ivy bridge processor. It has a USB 3.0 port. It will have higher storage capacities than the RT tablets and hit market 3 months after the ARM version.

It has a high res Cleartype Full HD display (possibly 1920×108) and digital pen. It has perimeter venting so will not be blocked when placed on a surface.

The device comes with two digitizers and the pen is magnetized.  It is also equipped with Display Port for connecting to external screens.

There is also a type cover with tactile “clicky” keys and a track pad, for a real laptop replacement. The keyboard has an accelerometer.

The spec sheet is below:
