Microsoft announced the Microsoft 365 Basic, its most affordable subscription plan, earlier this year. Now, the Redmond team is adding a OneDrive security boost to the plan.

The announcement came right on time with the Microsoft Surface 2023 event yesterday, which highlighted some of the most exciting AI features that will roll out in a few weeks.

Speaking in an official blog post, Microsoft says that Basic subscribers will have access to features like unlimited files in their Personal Vault, expiring sharing links, password-protected sharing links, files restore, and ransomware detection and recovery — effective from October 12.

“Microsoft 365 Basic continues to offer 100 GB of cloud storage and incredible peace of mind benefits at an incredible price,” says Microsoft.

At just $6 per month, the Basic plan is a great value for users who need access to Office apps and cloud storage without breaking the bank.

Besides the popular Office apps, Microsoft 365 Basic subscribers get access to a number of other benefits, like file sharing, collaboration tools, and now advanced security in Outlook.

Elsewhere from the Surface 2023 event, Microsoft finally announced the launch date of its hotly-anticipated Copilot AI tool on September 26.
