glance screen

When Microsoft presented the Lumia 950 and 950 XL at their New York event this week they spoke about looking down at their Glance screen and seeing a photo without having to wake the device.

That was somewhat confusing as while there was an experimental app which supported graphics on the Glance screen in the past, this was eventually scraped and the feature was not really good enough to brag about on stage.

It appears however the Glance screen on the Lumia 950 and 950 XL will be somewhat upgraded, and now offers new settings.

The above image, taken from a display device at a Microsoft Store by Redditor DistilledOreo shows that besides the usual date, notifications and detailed app status, the Glance screen will also support displaying a background photo.

It is of course good to see the Glance screen, which was neglected in the last generation, return even better to Windows 10 Mobile, and we hope this time it is to stay.
