Linogy Review

For those of us that use a lot of battery powered tech, the chaotic cycle of swapping out mismatched batteries and hunting for those half-juiced rechargeables is an ongoing struggle. We tell ourselves weโ€™ll get organized this time, only to be arm deep in the junk drawer a few weeks later, certain that we saw some loose AAs in there at some point in the last quarter century.

It doesnโ€™t have to be this way. In fact, thanks to the new Linogy all-in-one rechargeable battery system, the process can be efficient, eco-friendly, and oddly satisfying. Hereโ€™s everything you need to know:

What is Linogy?

In short, Linogy is a bulk charging station for rechargeable AA batteries and AAAs, which are placed into the accompanying charging sleeves. Snap up to 8 of either kind into the charging slots and when finished, they fill up the racks below, supporting 40 in total.

The smart system serves three key functions: It monitors battery health, fully charges Linogy batteries in 3 hours, and stores them safely.

Linogy brand batteries are long-lasting lithium-ion, which present many benefits over alternatives.

Everything you need is included in the essential bundle, and you can add extras like a smaller portable charger.

With over 4,700 backers on Kickstarter, the product launched in 2025 and is quickly gaining a solid reputation, not least because of its eco-friendly approach.

Whether it’s for your smart home devices, game controllers (like Xbox), VR headsets, TV remotes, Smart Door Locks, LED Christmas lights, wireless mice, and childrenโ€™s toys, with Linogy thereโ€™s no better time to go rechargeable.

Note: Linogy batteries are optimized for voltage stability and longevity, and are not recommended for high-drain devices that require massive instant current, such as professional camera flashes (speedlites) or high-speed RC racing cars.

Difference Between Battery Types

At this point itโ€™s worth noting the main differences between battery types and why switching to rechargeables, especially lithium and Linogy is beneficial.

Overall, rechargeable batteries can be recharged and reused hundreds of times, reducing the amount of waste that ends up in landfills. The production of rechargeable batteries requires fewer resources over time compared to disposable batteries, because of the longer lifespan.

Although both disposable and rechargeable batteries can be recycled, the process is more efficient and environmentally friendly for rechargeables, especially if they are recycled responsibly.

Rechargeables come in three forms: Older Nickel-Cadmium (NiCd), Nickel-Metal Hydride (NiMH), and newer Lithium-ion (Li-ion).

NiCd โ€“ The least reliable, loses charge at the highest rate, and contains toxic cadmium. They also suffer from the memory effect which reduces capacity if recharged before empty.

NiMH โ€“ Cadmium free, but still self-discharges at a higher rate than Li-ion batteries, meaning they lose charge when not in use.

Li-ion โ€“ Have the highest energy density, last longer than NiMH and NiCd batteries, and do not suffer from the memory effect. Lithium batteries also don’t contain toxic cadmium.

Letโ€™s take a closer look at Linogyโ€™s features, batteries, and why it stands out:

Supported Batteries

Supports all common rechargeable brands, but Linogyโ€™s own brand is a step ahead:

Linogy is a versatile solution, supporting most common AA and AAA rechargeable battery brands, including Duracell, Amazon Basics, Eneloop, EBL, Pale Blue, BATZONE, and other Li-ion, Ni-MH, and NiCd rechargeable batteries.

This isnโ€™t an exhaustive list, but itโ€™s safe to test thanks to current, voltage, and short circuit protections.

So, if you already have a stack of rechargeable batteries, you can always opt to purchase the charger by itself.

Linogy batteries

However, getting the bundle with 8 Linogy AAs and 4 AAAs will undoubtedly save you money over the long-term and have less environmental impact.

For example, Linogyโ€™s lithium-ion AA batteries can be fully charged in approximately 3 hours when used with a Linogy battery charger. This is about half the time required by traditional Ni-MH chargers, which typically take around 6 hours.

They donโ€™t suffer from the memory effect, which means they can be partially charged or topped up frequently, without losing capacity.

Moreover, Linogy AA lithium-ion rechargeable batteries deliver 3600mWh of power, lasting longer when in use and holding power at a much higher rate. Over 6 months they maintain 88% maximum charge.

They also withstand approximately twice the number of charging cycles over their lifetime โ€“ up to 1,200 times.

When in use, youโ€™ll notice a gradual discharge rate similar to disposable alkaline batteries, no sudden shutdowns that you donโ€™t see coming like with other rechargeable brands.

Suffice to say, Linogyโ€™s batteries are about as efficient and convenient as they come.

Safety

Safe from overheating, leaking, and other risks:

Cheaper and more basic chargers run the risk of overheating, overcharging, and simply not working very well. Without the right safety standards, charging can also be dangerous.

Linogy takes safety very seriously, ensuring six layers of protection. These prevent overcharging, overcurrent, over and under voltage, reverse polarity, and short-circuiting.

The batteries themselves are built with a leakage protection ring, anti-explosion module, and an intelligent protection chip, making them safe and reliable.

They also perform in both hot and cold temperatures from -4ยฐF to 131ยฐF (-20ยฐC to 55ยฐC), allowing you to power cameras and essential devices in extreme conditions.

Design

While we wouldnโ€™t drop it, the charger has a high build quality and sits sturdy and secure on any flat surface. It has a clean, almost clinical white look, and doesnโ€™t have any obvious weak points.

Linogy battery charger

Its charging slots are protected by a flip a lid that opens and closely smoothly, while the storage compartment below functions as a pull-out tray that fits in snugly.

Overall, it looks nice and premium and wouldnโ€™t be out of place in any home or office.

Battery Level Tester

Know everything about your batteries and their power:

Each charging slot has an indicator light above, with green indicating that the battery is charging. If you insert a dead or incompatible battery, the indicator light turns red.

The oddly fun and satisfying part comes when charging is complete. Rather than giving another indicator, the battery is automatically released into the storage tray below, preventing overcharging.

Itโ€™s not just a loose free for all either. Batteries fall precisely into the grooves, supporting up to 5 layers, for a total of 40 stored batteries.

Linogy power check slot

Finally, on the far right is the special power check slot. Place any battery in here, tap the power check function, and its light will flash yellow for a few seconds before returning a solid light status:

  • Red: Dead or incompatible, no power detected or less than 1.10V.
  • Yellow: Low power detected, between 1.10V and 1.20V, needs charging.
  • Green: More than 1.20V, good to use or charge to completion.ย

The slot itself serves as the 8th charging bay.

E-Ink Smart Screen

Smart display with eco-stats:

As well as indicator lights, the Linogy charger includes some premium flair in the form of an E-Ink display.

This tells you the charging status, including how many of the batteries inserted are ready. If all currently inserted are charged, they drop into the tray and the display shows the number, so you remember how many dropped.

During a power check, the screen shows the batteryโ€™s voltage result within 3 seconds, along with the other indicators.

Linogy E Ink display screen

When idling, the E-Ink screen displays the overall number of batteries charged over lifetime use and what this equates to in terms of CO2e reduced, which is a nice little incentive to remind you to continue using the system.

Eco Dashboard

Measure your positive environmental impact:

Annually, the United States consumes 3 billion dry cell batteries, contributing to the 180,000 Tons of hazardous battery waste produced every year.

Switching to rechargeable batteries (especially the Linogy system), will help curtail this and lower CO2e emissions.

Linogy Eco Dashboard

To further quantify the positive impact youโ€™re making, you can press the button on the right-side of the charger to bring up a QR code on the display. Scan this to launch your personal Linogy Eco Dashboard to view all your green data.

It takes you straight there โ€“ donโ€™t worry about complicated account creation.

Youโ€™re immediately greeted with a growing tree animation, number of batteries charged, and an account level, which corresponds with the amount of CO2e reduced by recharging.

Other interesting stats include how much money youโ€™ve saved so far by not using alkaline batteries, and the equivalent amount of waste avoided in the form of car emissions, flight emissions, aluminum cans, and more.

You can share these stats in one tap using the social sharing button.

Portable Charger

Smaller but just as powerful for those on the go:

As well as the main home-based charger, Linogy offers a $19.99 portable charger and USB cable.

It provides the same great performance, charging Linogy batteries in 3 hours, but with a reduced 4-slot capacity and no storage tray or E-Ink display.

Itโ€™s best used as an add-on to the main bundle, since it only works with Linogy brand batteries and these must be purchased separately.

Unlike the big charger, this one does not need the AAA adapter shells, as it has springs to hold in place both AA and AAA Linogy batteries.

Functionally, itโ€™s the perfect solution for when youโ€™re on the go or travelling and you want to maintain efficient battery usage but canโ€™t get home to charge.

Who is Linogy for?

Ultimately, there isnโ€™t a household that uses everyday electronics who wonโ€™t benefit from Linogy AA/AAA rechargeables. This is especially true in the age of smart home technology, wireless games controllers, electronic toys, digital cameras, and other gear.

Once you get into the flow, itโ€™s far too convenient to go back!

They are not recommended for high-drain devices that demand sustained high current (for example: high-output flash units, high-power tactical flashlights, motorized RC toys). Always check your deviceโ€™s battery requirements.

Using Linogy batteries

If youโ€™re particularly heavy on tech like us, itโ€™s surprising how much time and stress is saved by reaching into the tray instead of finding, testing, swapping, and having to run out to buy more disposables.

For gamers (The Xbox Advantage), this is a significant upgrade. If you game on Xbox Series X/S, you are likely familiar with the frustration of standard 1.2V NiMH rechargeables. Because of their lower voltage, your controller often triggers a “Low Battery” warning even when the batteries are freshly charged, and vibration feedback can feel weak. Linogy changes this. Thanks to the 1.5V Lithium-ion technology, your controller receives consistent, peak power right until the battery is depleted. This means no premature warnings, full-strength rumble motors, and zero interruptions during those marathon gaming sessions over the holiday break.

Parents & The “Christmas Morning” Rescue With Christmas just around the corner, Linogy is the ultimate insurance policy against holiday chaos. When the kids are screaming because their new toys need 4 AA batteries, you won’t be rummaging through junk drawers. Youโ€™ll just grab 4 freshly charged ones from the Linogy dispenser. Itโ€™s a tech upgrade that brings peace of mind to the holidays.

Itโ€™s always nice when convenience is eco-friendly, so if youโ€™re doing your best to be green, Linogy lightens the load.

Pricing

Linogy is affordably priced for what you get in terms of savings. For example, if you use 40 disposable batteries a year (within the average for a household), Linogy saves you $30. Not bad!

Verdict โ€“ 5/5

While thereโ€™s nothing revolutionary about recharging batteries, Linogy has stepped in and set a new standard of convenience, organization, and efficiency.

Not only does it use the better lithium-ion battery technology, but its own proprietary design is hard to beat.

Once youโ€™ve got the 3-in-1 charger and Linogy batteries, you simply never have to think about the process again.

The fact that Linogy performs better, lasts longer, is safer, and more eco-friendly, is the icing on the cake.
