If you’re a professional gamer in eSports or just happen to play for several hours at a time, Ikea may have just designed the perfect chair for you.
Announced at the Ikea Democratic Design Days 2018 event, the Ubik gaming chair is specifically tailored to and individual using body scanning technology and 3D printing. Everyone’s body is different, and these subtleties being accounted for should make Ubik one of the most comfortable chairs you’ve sat in. At least, that’s what Ikea hopes.
The Swedish furniture company partnered with US prosthetics firm Unyq to create the Ubik.
Those wishing to get their hands on an Ubik will need to wait a couple more years. Ikea and Unyq aim to have the Ubik on the market for consumers by 2020. In order to purchase it you’ll need to get your body scanned at an Ikea store. Then it’ll take about two weeks for 3D printed lattice inserts to arrive.
