Halo Reach is currently having its first ever PC beta test right this instant. Unfortunately for some, only 1000 lucky Halo Insiders are able to play it… well, unless you downloaded a leaked Halo Reach PC beta.
It’s not known whether or not developer 343 industries know who distributed the early build, but they are working on eliminating the pirates.
Both Microsoft and 343 industries have warned players against playing the illegally distributed build and they are swiftly banning anyone who tries to play it.
“it has come to our attention that the Halo Insider flight has been illegally distributed online,” 343 community support and engagement coordinator Tyler Davis said. “If you download or play this illegal copy, we have the right to ban all associated accounts and remove you from all current or future 343 programs.”
The early build only includes one mission from the original game’s campaign: Tip of the Spear. While more playable options will become available in later tests, this first wave is meant to test stability on PC across PC configurations.
Halo: The Master Chief Collection is a huge project that shows Microsoft’s commitment to the PC platform. While there’s no knowing whether or not they’ll bring Halo 5 to PC prior to Halo Infinite’s cross-platform launch, we can’t say for sure.
