Setting up a new Google TV device just became easier and faster, thanks to four major improvements. Users no longer need to download a separate app to begin setup. Android phones will now automatically show a notification when a new TV is being set up. iPhone users can simply scan the QR code displayed on the TV screen to start.
Users can also begin watching content sooner. Google has improved how apps install during setup, which reduces waiting time. This change also helps manage storage more efficiently, ensuring smoother long-term use.

Connecting to other smart home devices is now quicker too. Google Home speakers can control the TV with voice commands, making it easy to pause content, search for shows, or manage smart home functions.
Additionally, users can personalize their viewing experience right from the start. The new setup process includes options for Google Photos screensavers, parental controls, and individual user profiles.
These updates are first available on Hisense’s 2025 U7 and U8 series TVs. Google plans to expand the improved setup experience to more devices later this year. Select onn. streaming devices, sold exclusively at Walmart, will also get the update.
With these changes, setting up Google TV is now more seamless and user-friendly.
