Tiki Towers is the new Xbox Live game for the week! It is a type of logic game where you build towers for your monkeys to utilize.
This probably isn’t the best logic game out there, but it gives logic fans a different twist of gameplay to try.
The goal of the game is simple: Get your monkeys from point A to point B while collecting as many bananas as possible. To do that, you have to construct these “towers†out of bamboo sticks. When building your platforms, you have to consider the weight and stress the monkeys will exert onto the bamboo, since it can snap and break! Every level has a unique challenge where you have to think differently to solve each one. The controls are decent, but can sometimes be tough to use since the construction process requires precision. If you do run into precision scenarios, you just have to try to place the bamboo a couple of times before getting it right. It doesn’t effect the game much, but can be annoying occasionally. While the variety in the game is great, the gameplay is just mediocre compared to some other logic games. It’s interesting, but simply doesn’t capture you as well as other games can.
The sounds are good, and the visual art design is great, but unfortunately the frame rate seems slightly slow. It is barely noticeable that the game isn’t absolutely smooth and fast in its frame rate, but it does feel a bit choppy at the menu screens. That brings the great visual design down to a 4.
Lasting Value: 4/5
Beating the game and all of the levels in one play through will probably take about 2 or 2 and a half hours. Then, you can replay certain levels to try and obtain gold monkeys on them by collecting every single banana in the level. That makes the replayability of the game pretty good, since you usually won’t be able to get every banana on your first try.
