Need another addicting time killer? ORB works perfectly.
Overall Score: 5/5
Between its fantastic gameplay, beautiful presentation, and good lasting value, this game is a winner!
Gameplay: 5/5
In ORB, you pilot this rolling ball through a maze of square platforms, avoiding holes and jumping over sections using power-ups. This is all controlled with the accelerometer, but the controls work perfectly, even when laying down, thanks to the game’s auto-calibration! The game has four different power-ups and a great mix of automatically generated courses of increasing difficulty. The goal is to survive as long as you can. You even have to roll off the left side of the screen to transfer to the right side in order to survive, which is an awesome element. Great fun and great controls, what more could you want!
Presentation: 5/5
The game looks quite slick visually, with its out of focus background of glowing squares appearing through the translucent foreground squares, and the well-done 3D effects. The music is also pretty great, and it progresses musically with your progress to the next levels. Oh and it loads prettyรย fast…. and resumes even faster!
Lasting Value: 4/5
While the game does include an online leaderboard with daily, weekly, and all-time scores, it could be improved if it would instantly tell you how your score compares to everyone else’s and how far above average you are. But the game never ends, so you could play it for hours trying to get as far as possible!
