EA has recently announced that it’s acquiring TRACAB Technologies, a company with quite-so-good track record in optical tracking.

The studio, the home of franchises like EA FC and F1, says that TRACAB’s addition could make realism in EA Sports games a whole lot better. Its technology can capture real-time player data and generate 600 million data points per game to improve animation, AI, and sports simulations.

The Redwood City studio also said that it’s integrating TRACAB into its EA Sports app, and it’s expecting to close it in EA’s fiscal Q1 of 2026.

“As they join EA SPORTS, we expect to leverage TRACAB’s technology and teams as we continue to harness advanced AI, machine learning, and real-time sports data to advance how we create lifelike animation and simulate real-world action,” the company says in optimism.

EA has also announced that it’s opening up the Battlefield Labs, a community-driven platform to build future Battlefield games. Though, the queue is so long that you literally need to wait for hours to get in.

EA has been the leader in the sports games market for quite some time. Most recently, EA FC 25 remained dominant in the European market, ranking as the most downloaded PS5 game in December 2024, ahead of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6.

But then, in an overall sense, Microsoft overtook the company’s position as the world’s top-earning game studio by generating $465 million in December 2024, surpassing EA’s $366 million.

This was largely driven by the success of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 and Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, both benefiting from Game Pass.
