Facebook will shift all new uploads to Reels on June 17, 2025. The company will merge its existing Feed and Reels upload workflows into a single, simplified experience. From that date forward, every video posted on Profiles and Pages will automatically become a Reel. Meta says this removes the need to decide between “video” and “Reel” options and eliminates length or format limits on Reels .
The updated creation flow offers one unified interface featuring all the editing tools previously split between Feed video and Reel uploads. Users will still choose their audience just as before; the system will prompt if Feed and Reel settings differ, ensuring control over who sees each post. Any privacy preferences, including public, friends only, or custom, will carry over to Reels, with the ability to keep content limited to select viewers.

Existing videos on profiles or Pages remain unchanged and accessible. Going forward, however, every freshly posted video becomes a Reel. Meta says it will roll out these updates globally over the coming months, first to Profiles and then to Pages .
This change simplifies Facebook’s video experience. Creators now face fewer upload decisions. Publishers benefit from a unified tab that showcases all their content formats. And everyday users will find fewer buttons and more creative options in a single posting flow.
Overall, Facebook’s decision makes Reels the default for video. It brings Feed uploads and Reel posts under one roof while preserving audience and privacy controls. The result is a faster, more consistent experience for everyone—whether posting a quick clip, a longer video, or a live recording.
