Happy birthday, God of War! It’s been an entire year since Kratos and his son, Atreus, embarked on a whole new adventure.
To celebrate the game’s first anniversary and as a big thank you present to all the fans, you can get a free PlayStation 4 dynamic theme right now on the PlayStation Store, regardless of whether you actually have the game or not.
The dynamic theme depicts Atreus and Kratos going for a leisurely boat ride in the Lake of Nine. It also transforms your PlayStation 4 icons into stone versions of themselves. Very rock and roll.
But that’s not all! There’s also a God of War Anniversary avatar set that will be available as of Wednesday the 17th. Once again, you won’t need to own God of War to get it, and it’ll also be completely free!
Head of Santa Monica Studio, Shannon Studstill, wrote the following on the official PlayStation Blog:
Change to a longstanding franchise comes with immeasurable doubt, a studio defining risk and a huge leap of faith. Thank you to our entire worldwide team; the Sony PlayStation family and you, the millions of God of War fans around the world who embraced that leap with us, on a journey we never expected. We made this journey together.
The team also posted a rather touching and emotional Thank You video, dedicated to the fans. Keep some tissues on hand because it’s a bit of a tearjerker.
If you haven’t played Dad Simulator – uh, God of War – yet, you can pick it up on the PlayStation store for just $39.99.
