AI tax-compliance startup Numeral raises $35M at a $350M valuation

Numeral, which builds AI-powered sales-tax compliance software, closed a $35 million Series B on September 18, 2025 at a $350 million valuation. The round was led by Mayfield and arrives roughly six months after the company’s $18 million Series A, signaling strong demand for automation in post-Wayfair sales-tax workflows.

Numeral’s platform uses machine learning to categorize products, monitor state nexus thresholds, schedule filings, and maintain audit trails across jurisdictions. The company says the new capital will fund deeper ERP and commerce integrations, expand support beyond the US, and grow its compliance and customer-success teams.

Sales-tax obligations have become increasingly complex for online sellers operating across multiple states, creating a market for tools that reduce manual work and error rates. Numeral plans to add real-time notifications for potential exposure, better reconciliation features, and analytics aimed at finance leaders responsible for filings accuracy and timing. Pricing remains subscription-based, with enterprise tiers for high-volume filings and custom integrations.

The company did not disclose annual recurring revenue or customer counts, but indicated that mid-market and enterprise accounts are the focus for the next stage of growth.
