AI on Google Maps is always a fun thing to talk about. It helps us navigate the world better, and in the October 2023 update, the popular service is getting a lot of new features including the expansion of the Immersive View for routes feature.
Google Maps Immersive View, announced at I/O 2023, is now available in more cities on Android and iOS. Some in the States, some in Europe.
If you’re not familiar, with it, Immersive View basically uses artificial intelligence to combine billions of street-level and aerial photographs to create a detailed, three-dimensional model of the world.
Then, the tech giant also rebranded its Search with Live View. Now, it’s called Lens in Maps, and it uses AI to help you get the best out of your trip.
If you’re in one of the 50 cities where it’s available, including Las Vegas, Rome, Austin, and others, you can simply point your phone at your surroundings to find information about ATMs, gas stations, stores, and more.
With AI, Google Maps navigation map will soon reflect the real world more accurately with updated colors, more realistic buildings, and improved lane details. It will also show HOV lanes in the US and AI-powered speed limit information in 20 European countries.
You can download Google Maps on Play Store for Android devices or Apple’s App Store.
