Microsoft has recently leaked details of the extension support coming to the Edge browser in Windows 10 desktop. It is expected in the next major version of Windows 10, and would allow for very easy porting of Chrome extensions to Edge.
Now popular Adbocking plugin Adblock Plus has confirmed that they plan to release a version of their software for Edge, whenever this arrives.
Microsoft has earlier confirmed that they are planning to support extensions on Windows 10 Mobile also, though it is expected that this will be much after the desktop version gets support.
While the Edge browser is quite fast, at present it lacks a lot of polish (no Paste and Go?) and stability, but for many the absence of popular plugins such as Adblock Plus is the main reason they do not use the browser, and its arrival will likely produce a significant boost to its popularity.
