Microsoft announces new Surface Precision Mouse

Alongside the new Surface Book 2, Microsoft has also announced a new Surface Mouse today. While a trackpad is a nifty way to navigate a desktop operating system, especially a large glass trackpad like the one which the Surface Book is equipped with, more precise devices like a mouse and a pen are often attractive to power-users who prefer the tactility.
While Microsoft already offers a Surface mouse and pen, both of these peripherals are upgrades over the models which shipped earlier this year. To fit with the gaming-focus of the new Surface Book 2, Microsoft is introducing a new Surface Mouse focused towards professional users. The new Surface Mouse, as you can see, looks a lot like Logitech’s MX Master mouse that’s also targeted towards professional users. There are three configurable buttons on the side which you can set to open apps or trigger macros. The mouse supports Windows 10 PCs, macOS, older Windows operating systems, and Android phones. It lets you connect to three devices and easily switch between them using the toggle on its back, but you will need to connect over USB when using it with macOS and older versions of Windows.
Just like all of Microsoft’s Surface products, the Mouse has a soft and premium feel. Clicking feels satisfying and movement is precise. While you won’t be using it for gaming any time soon, the real appeal lies in its design. The grey exterior coupled with the curved edges make it comfortable to hold for prolonged periods of time. If you don’t mind using accessories that don’t match, then this new mouse is an ideal accessory for your new Surface Book 2 or Surface Studio. There’s nothing revolutionary here but those with a sense of style will definitely enjoy its presence.
The Surface Mouse isn’t as customizable as Logitech’s MX Master but if you have been waiting for a truly ergonomic mouse that goes with your Surface, the Surface Mouse looks like the perfect option. It will go on sale for $99 next month in the United States and Canada.
