Xbox has released a new update for its invite-only Alpha and Alpha-Skip Ahead rings, fixing problems with HDMI-CEC and video settings.

The update, available from February 24, 2025, targets the issue where HDMI-CEC, which allows your Xbox to control other devices like your TV or sound system, wasnโ€™t working properly.

Other than that, it also addresses problems with video settings such as 4K 120Hz, variable refresh rate, and auto low-latency mode being turned off unexpectedly.

To fix these problems, Xbox suggests users go into the consoleโ€™s display settings and toggle the HDMI override option. If that doesnโ€™t work, users can reset their console while keeping their games and apps.

The update also includes some language improvements for users in different regions, though some users might still see strange text while the fixes are being fully rolled out.

Despite these fixes, thereโ€™s still one known issue: Xbox consoles may not properly detect Dolby Vision support when connected to certain TV models. Xbox is looking into this issue and asks users to report it if they experience it.

The update is available now for Xbox Insiders and will be mandatory for all users starting February 25, 2025.

Earlier this year, Xbox also fixed issues with disabled video settings after remote play sessions. And, it also put an end to annoying Xbox Cloud Gaming screenshot and clip capture issues not too long ago.
