Battlefield Labs

EA has just opened up a new community testing platform. It’s called the Battlefield Labs for future Battlefield games.

The community testing program will involve you directly in the Battlefield development. The first phase of testing will begin soon for invited players in Europe and North America “in the coming weeks,” as the game studio says.

We tried getting into it, but, well, the enthusiasm is so massive that we had to wait for over an hour.

EA says in its announcement that it’s planning to expand Battlefield Labs in the future. If you haven’t been selected for the program, you can still follow the progress with updates on testing available at battlefield.com/labs.

Battlefield 2042, the last Battlefield title, arrived some time ago in 2021. It was a major release, but yet, it underperformed at best by barely selling 4 million copies in the first week, which was lower than Battlefield V and Battlefield 1. Player engagement also tanked so badly with at least a 93% drop reported by January 2025 according to SteamCharts.

And, it’s now safe to say that EA is learning from the game’s failure to live up to the hype for the next Battlefield title.

Earlier this month, EA also announced its agreement to acquire TRACAB Technologies. Its tech, which captures real-time sports data at an extraordinary level of detail, will revamp the realism in EA Sports games, including the EA FC franchise, and give them more life-like and humanoid animations and simulations.
