It looks like Twitter might be planning to implement threaded replies and status indicators to its service soon. Sara Haider, Director of product management, Twitter shared some screenshots to fix threading issues. The company is planning to make replies to tweets threaded like the ones on Facebook. The new threaded replies will be an extension to the threading within a user’s own tweets which was launched back in December.
hey Twitter. we've been playing with some rough features to make it feel more conversational here. presence and reply threading. still early and iterating on these ideas. thoughts? pic.twitter.com/3U3NvpHWPy

New threaded replies are not the only feature Twitter plans to steal from Facebook. Another feature that Twitter is working on is status indicators. This will show the users when a certain person is online on Twitter. It is not clear when these updates will roll out but will surely be appreciated by the Twitter community.
