I’ve never been a heavy Twitter app user, preferring the mobile website due to faster load times and better multi-tasking.

I was however converted to the app life by the best Windows Phone twitter app, Aeries, due to its combination of speed, functionality and great looks.

The good news today is that the app is heading straight to the desktop, where it will hopefully also be good enough to wean me from the website there too.

We have seen the trend towards Universal Apps from a variety of Windows Phone apps over the recent months, ranging from VLC to RedHubb. Microsoft also reports that app downloads are up to 6 times more on Windows 10 than on Windows 8.1, and we hope this means that developers find this a profitable new market.
