Surface Laptop with 5G

Microsoft arrived with big news overnight. The Redmond tech giant finally tapped Intel chips for Surface Pro 11 and Surface Laptop 7 for business. And now, it seems like a Surface Laptop with 5G will soon become a thing, but not for everyone.

The Redmond tech giant is set to launch a 5G-equipped Surface Laptop later in 2025, marking the first time the company has included 5G connectivity in this line. Previously, this option was only available on the Surface Pro.

What we know for now is that 5G-powered Surface Laptop is only for business and will feature new Intel Core Ultra chips and is designed to meet the needs of mobile work. The connectivity feature will only be available in select areas, though 5G and eSIM support will depend on carrier network compatibility and plans.

“Weโ€™ll share more details on Surface Laptop 5G in the coming months,” Microsoft promises.

Elsewhere in the announcement, Microsoft said that its first Intel-powered Surface Pro 11 and Surface Laptop 7 will launch on February 18 for business customers.

These devices will feature Intelโ€™s Lunar Lake processors, with options up to Intel Core Ultra 7, 32GB RAM, and 1TB storage, alongside improved performance, Intel Arc graphics, and AI features via Intel’s NPU.

Microsoft also launched the Surface USB4 Dock at $199.99 and previewed Security Copilot for the Surface Management Portal, set for February 24. The company is also partnering with Teams to bring Microsoft Edge to Surface Hub 3 for easier web access and secure browsing, with availability expected in Q3 2025.
