- Sony will shift focus to PS5 starting January 2026.
- The company is limiting PS4’s Monthly Games and Game Catalog offerings.
- PS4 players will still have access to previously redeemed games.
Sony is back with a lineup of its monthly PS Plus games for February 2025, but not without this heartbreaking news that could impact millions of PS4 players.
The Japanese gaming giant said that PS4 won’t be its major focus, moving forward. And that means, it won’t release the Monthly Games or add more titles to the Game Catalog for those still playing on the last-gen console. It’ll be effective starting January 2026.
But still, PS Plus may “occasionally” include or offer games for both PS4 and PS5 consoles. This change, however, won’t affect previously redeemed PS4 games, which will remain accessible as long as you are a member, and PS4 games will still be available in the Game Catalog until removed during the monthly refresh.
“We’ll continue to evolve the experience of PlayStation Plus and optimize the benefits you receive, including exclusive discounts, online multiplayer access, online game save storage, and more,” says Adam Michel, SIE’s director for game services & content.
Sony’s PS5 sales still continue to surge. Last year, the company revealed that it shipped 65.5 million PS5 consoles globally. The Pro version of the console also hit the market back in November 2024, which drove an even more frenzy market for PS consoles.
“As we shift our focus to PS5, we look forward to adding new PS5 titles monthly for you to enjoy,” the spokesperson says.
Still from Sony-related news, the company’s leadership is reshuffling, with Hideaki Nishino becoming President and CEO of SIE, and Hiroki Totoki taking over as President and CEO of Sony Corporation. Since then, Sony’s stock has surged thanks to the market’s optimism. Hermen Hulst also remains CEO of the Studio Business Group.
