Opera is updating its desktop web browser to version 53 with a new user-facing feature,  news feed.

This news feed will appear in counties like the US, Russia, Belarus, and Ukraine at this time, but will likely be expanded in the coming months.

This is a similar concept to Microsoft’s Newsfeed that’s present on Edge on Windows 10. It’ll incorporate popular stories from around the world, and surface them when you’re on your home screen based on your personal preferences.

As some might find them distracting, users will be given the option to turn them off, much like Microsoft offers in its own browser.

The requisite bug fixes and improvements are present.

Opera 53 is rolling out now with the new changes.
